Spring 2018
Initial Acquisition
Renowned developer, The Staenberg Group, acquires the former Sears property at Chesterfield Mall, marking the first step toward Downtown Chesterfield.
Early 2020
Chesterfield Mall
The Staenberg Group expands its vision by acquiring Macy's & Chesterfield Mall, a beloved regional landmark for generations.
Summer 2024
End of An Era
Chesterfield Mall closes its doors, marking the end of an era as enclosed malls across the country give way to new forms of community & commerce.
Late 2024
Demolition Begins
A slow & methodical deconstruction process begins that allows much of the mall's materials to be re-purposed - a bold approach for a development of this scale.
Fall 2025
Laying the Foundation
Post-demolition, the groundwork begins with site grading & infrastructure.
Fall 2026
The Heart of Downtown
Construction begins on the 3.31 acre park that is the centerpiece of the project & the beating heart of the Downtown community.
Spring 2027
Building Community
With infrastructure & site grading completed, residential construction begins.
Fall 2029
Welcome Home
Downtown Chesterfield's first residents begin moving in, marking the end of Phase 1.

Additional infrastructure such as entertainment, commercial, & residential buildings open.
